Kitchen planning and inspiration during lockdown

During these difficult times it is good to feel productive.  This is why we remain virtually open.

Whilst the country is spending more time in their homes it is inevitable that they will be looking to make home improvements and planning for the future.  This will include those larger areas such as kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms.

Our design and service is still as attentive and informative as ever.  To start, or continue with your project all we need are a few details and we have many ways of helping you. This can be over voice or video calls, or initially over email.

The measuring

The easiest will be if you have architect plans, this will not be the case for all.  If you are unable to email architect plans then all you need is a pen, piece of paper and a tape measure.  Pick a corner of the room as your starting point. Draw a line in the direction that you are measuring.  Measure from the corner of the wall to the next fixed obstacle.  This may be another wall, boxed in pipes, a window, door etc.  Then draw this obstacle, measure and record the measurement, draw the next section and so on.  It does not need to be to scale (mine never are as you will see below). Then take an overall measurement of each side of the room.  Also, it is important to note other details such as boilers, radiators or stair wedges.  The most accurate unit of measure is mm’s we can work from inches too.  The important thing is that we know the unit of measure and that it is consistent. We are also able to talk you through this in a video call, so don’t panic if this seems overwhelming.

If you would like us to remove a wall, maybe knocking through to the dining room, we will require details of this room too.

The brief

Ideally we would like to discuss this with you.  When determining your brief I need more than the basic style you are looking for. I want to get to know you and your family.  How you use your home, who the fussy eater is, where the post, pens and keys gather, if you bulk buy or shop daily (under normal circumstances!), do you have an allotment, the types of foods you cook, the time you have to cook and so so much more.  This will enable me to be sure you will love your Lima Kitchen and offer true inspiration. We do have a simple questionnaire that we can send through to prepare for this appointment too.

The design concept

As ever, we will present the design to you – via video link.  We take you on a journey that will feel as if we are throwing away the rule book but truly takes into account your requirements and has all the latest theories and research reflected in your new kitchen. With our 3-D designs, photos of real installations and your tape measure you will be immersed into the Lima world. Explaining the working space, storage accessibility, workflows and lifestyle.

The design and product confirmation

Fingers crossed we will soon be in a situation to be meeting and opening our showroom doors once more.  This will enable us to show you our moodboards, make tweaks to the layout, feel the quality of our British made products.  Again, we can do this virtually with confirmations when you see the colours and textures in the flesh. During this period we are offering a change to our ordering process, allowing holding deposits of just 10%.  This will secure prices, offers and secure your place in the project diary.  Some of the great offers that we currently have include; upto £1000 cashback on Neff appliances, 10% off Quooker products bought with a kitchen in lockdown and much more.

Don’t hold off, get in touch now to prepare for your Lima Kitchen.
